Schumm Family
In July 2006, Allison and Jonathan Schumm of Topeka opened their home to a sibling group of four. Nicole, Alisa, Emmanuel and Jaquale needed a loving family to provide a home for them. The children’s baby sister, Angel, was living in another foster home.
“It has been my goal to adopt a sibling group,” said Allison. “My parents adopted me, and two of my siblings are from different families. My youngest sister was split from her siblings, so I know how important it is to keep a family together.”
Having the children in their home didn’t stop the family from growing. In October, three months after the children moved in, Allison gave birth their daughter, Mercy.
At Christmas time, the siblings’ sister Angel finally became part of the Schumm family.
Throw into the mix two dogs, two guinea pigs, three cats, birds and fish. The house was busy and full, but the was not yet complete.
In April, Allison gave birth to Isaiah, and this summer the family’s wish to adopt the sibling group of five KVC kids came true. “All children need a family to love them adnd not give up on them,” said Jonathon. And that’s what they have with the Schumms. Rooms bursting with kids, clothes and pets - a house full of love.
