Making the Commitment to Adoption Training

If you are considering adoption through the foster care system, this training is for you.  The curriculum explores the differences and unique challenges that adoptive families of children with special needs face, and you will learn how to anticipate and manage these challenges.   

Through this class, you will come to understand

  • the adoption process
  • the needs of children awaiting adoption
  • your own strengths and needs
  • how adoptive families are different
  • the importance of separation, loss and grief
  • attachment and its importance in adoption
  • that adoption means making a life-long commitment to a child
