Kansas Foster Family Resources

Taking a child into your home will mean making some adjustments – on your part as well as the child’s. You will both want to take time to get to know one another. The child will need time to feel comfortable around your family, adjust to living in your home and learn your family’s special rules, habits and customs.

In turn, you will learn the child’s likes and dislikes, temperament and any emotional, learning or physical challenges he or she may face.

Before and after a child is placed in your home, KVC gives your family the tools and education needed to ease the transition, ensure a positive stay and help the child adjust to life changes. We work toward successful placement of a child and offer continuous training to make sure you have the skills necessary to meet the various needs of a child who comes into your care.

Throughout your foster child placement, you can access KVC as a resource. We provide support services at our outpatient clinics, in-home family therapy, medication management and address other needs specific to the child or the family as a whole.

Other ways to get information about KVC's foster care services include the KVC Kansas foster care Facebook page and a publication KVC produces called the Family Focus newsletter. You may access past copies of the newsletters by clicking on the link below.  To access helpful forms, also click below.
