School-based Family Services

Every child has a bad day at school once in awhile, but most work hard to do what the teacher asks.   It is the child who consistently has trouble following directions, keeping quiet or participating in a group who takes up the teacher’s time and energy. This can be disruptive to the whole class and interfere with other students’ learning.

Many times these children are worried about something at home, something with another classmate, or they may have physical, mental or behavioral challenges getting in the way of learning.

Children function best when schools and parents work together to find solutions, refocus the child and give them tools to stop a downward spiral. To fill this growing need, KVC has developed partnerships with school districts to provide in-home family, individual and group therapy, outpatient psychiatric care and medication management.
