DESCRIPTION:Partnering to Provide Life-Saving Treatment\nIn recent years\, mental health needs for both children and adults have been increasing at an alarming rate. For example\, youth suicide attempts in Kansas have led to a 68% increase in emergency department visits. \nA $12.7 million Kansas SPARK grant has ignited a $53 million philanthropic campaign to build a new 72-bed mental health hospital in Olathe\, KS serving children and adults. You are invited to join KVC Health Systems and Kansas Governor Laura Kelly as we break ground on a new world-class inpatient mental health hospital. We’ll also announce our joint venture partner — a leading Kansas City organization — and hear from the public and private supporters making this vision a reality. \nThe planned $53 million campaign will open a new non-profit 72-bed mental health hospital adjacent to KVC’s headquarters. This healing environment includes three separate 24-bed units — 48 pediatric beds and 24 adult beds — as well as private courtyards\, walking paths\, and dining and activity space\, all centered on staff and patient safety\, wellness\, and connection with nature. We are proud to expand the life-saving care needed in our community.
