DESCRIPTION:Every year\, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving\, judges across America open their courthouses to finalize the adoptions of children in foster care into loving families. They do this to celebrate National Adoption Day and call attention to the more than 100\,000 children and young people who are waiting for adoptive families. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe\, loving family! \nKVC provides foster care services in Kansas\, Missouri\, Nebraska and West Virginia. While the first goal of foster care is always a safe family reunification\, adoption becomes the next goal when that reunification is not possible. \nWe’ll be hosting special events for families and the media all during National Adoption Month. DESCRIPTION:The Ozark Egg Scramble: 9-miles\, 50+ obstacles to give forgotten and abused kids hope!\nThe Great Egg Scramble is a 9-mile\, blood-pumping\, sweat-soaking\, adrenaline-surging\, mud-marinating\, water-logging\, purpose-driven TEAM obstacle run set at the Meramec Adventure Ranch in Steelville\, MO. \nA 2.3-mile Fun-Run Obstacle Course (The Scrambled-Over-Easy) will also be available for younger participants and those wanting a little-less-intense experience.\nSchedule: \n7:30am – 9:00am – Registration\n8:30am – 9:00am – Egg Scramble Brief and warm-up time\n9:00am – 3:00pm – Egg Scramble Run Time\n9:20am – 9:30am – Scrambled Over Easy Brief and warm-up time\n9:20am – 12:30pm – Scrambled Over Easy Run Time\n3:00pm – 5:00pm – Post-Run Awards and Celebration \nAbout the Ozark Egg Scramble: \nYour chosen team of at least three people (…or as big as 25)\, have the opportunity to take on “The Ozark Egg Scramble” as it traverses 50+ obstacles on the Meramec Adventure Ranch for an 9-mile EPIC TREK!  Scramblers have up to 6 hours to complete the course as a team.  During the course\, Scramblers move by leg-power (and hand-power).  Scramblers should be prepared to negotiate challenges including jumping\, climbing\, mud crawling\, and swinging across\, over\, and through obstacles\, as well as negotiating steep hills and ravines.  Scramblers should also be prepared for 2 swimming obstacles and be prepared to swim 150m (with a PFD).  For swimming obstacles\, PFD’s are required and provided or Scramblers may bring their own.  Teams must remain together at all times and are encouraged to help other teams.  Successful completion of the event is measured by getting all teammates to complete the course or as far as possible through the course in the designated amount of time.  Bring your own watch\, because no time will be kept for the course! \n…And your team must accomplish this task while carefully carrying an EGG!\n…Don’t worry\, Eggs will be provided. \n  \n\n  \nInformation \nScrambler Packet \nObstacle Description \n

For example\, youth suicide attempts in Kansas have led to a 68% increase in emergency department visits. \nA $12.7 million Kansas SPARK grant has ignited a $53 million philanthropic campaign to build a new 72-bed mental health hospital in Olathe\, KS serving children and adults. You are invited to join KVC Health Systems and Kansas Governor Laura Kelly as we break ground on a new world-class inpatient mental health hospital. We’ll also announce our joint venture partner — a leading Kansas City organization — and hear from the public and private supporters making this vision a reality. \nThe planned $53 million campaign will open a new non-profit 72-bed mental health hospital adjacent to KVC’s headquarters. This healing environment includes three separate 24-bed units — 48 pediatric beds and 24 adult beds — as well as private courtyards\, walking paths\, and dining and activity space\, all centered on staff and patient safety\, wellness\, and connection with nature. DESCRIPTION:It’s National Kinship Care Month\, a time to honor the role of relatives and non-related kin who provide loving homes for children when their birth parents are unable to care for them. This might include grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, siblings\, family friends\, coaches\, teachers or neighbors who have an existing relationship with the child. The goal of kinship care is to maintain the child’s connection to their normal surroundings — both family and community. \nWhen a child needs to be placed out of home\, finding caring relatives or non-related kin such as teachers or neighbors is a top priority for KVC. “We dig deep into the family tree and try to contact anyone for possible placement\,” shares Kimberly Smith\, LPC\, Director of Kinship Services. “Kinship care can be more like building a family forest than a family tree.” Kinship care helps children maintain connections to their roots and receive the support and love of their extended family.
