SUMMARY:Family Reunification Month
DESCRIPTION:June is Family Reunification Month and at KVC Health Systems we celebrate those families that have worked hard to overcome obstacles\, resolve conflicts and learn healthy skills in order for their children to safely return home from foster care! \nUltimately\, the goal of foster care is reunification (also known as reintegration)\, and equipping biological parents with the resources and skills they need to thrive is at the heart of it all. We are all a part of family systems\, and even when families are experiencing difficulties\, many aspects of our family compose our identities. Our culture\, language and belief systems\, along with the social connections embedded in community\, school\, churches and extended family are all a very powerful part of who we are. KVC recognizes that parents have a lot of unmet needs\, which is why we have built additional services beyond what is required of a foster case management provider. \nIf you care about families in your community who face serious challenges\, we invite you to showw your support during June and all year long\, learn more and get involved here. \n

SUMMARY:National Kinship Care Month
DESCRIPTION:It’s National Kinship Care Month\, a time to honor the role of relatives and non-related kin who provide loving homes for children when their birth parents are unable to care for them. This might include grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, siblings\, family friends\, coaches\, teachers or neighbors who have an existing relationship with the child. The goal of kinship care is to maintain the child’s connection to their normal surroundings — both family and community. \nWhen a child needs to be placed out of home\, finding caring relatives or non-related kin such as teachers or neighbors is a top priority for KVC. “We dig deep into the family tree and try to contact anyone for possible placement\,” shares Kimberly Smith\, LPC\, Director of Kinship Services. “Kinship care can be more like building a family forest than a family tree.” Kinship care helps children maintain connections to their roots and receive the support and love of their extended family. Learn more about kinship care!

This October\, check out some of our free educational resources! \nResources: \nBullying Prevention: How Connection\, Empathy and Action Can Make an Impact: Learn how to spot bullying and how you can overcome it through encouraging connection.  \n5 Reasons Children Bully and How Parents Can Help: How can you prevent your child from becoming someone who bullies? It’s important to understand what defines a bully and typical reasons children bully. \nFind Mental Health Services: Bullying can have a profound impact on mental health. SUMMARY:Social Work Month 2026
DESCRIPTION:March is National Social Work Month and allows us at KVC to honor the incredible ways that our social workers\, clinicians and other professionals help children\, adults and families. Social work is a helping profession focused on enhancing human wellbeing and meeting people’s basic and complex needs\, with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable\, oppressed and living in poverty. \nSocial Workers Transform Lives\nRay’s case manager Maureen was a wonderful positive force in his life and helped him create a better future. SUMMARY:Child Abuse Prevention Month
DESCRIPTION:April is Child Abuse Prevention Month\nWe encourage everyone to recommit to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe\, stable\, and nurturing environment so they have the chance to succeed. While child abuse prevention is focused on noticing children’s safety in homes and communities\, we carry forward the same commitment in our services. \nProtecting children and keeping kids safe is the heart of our work at KVC. When families are in crisis due to family challenges or mental health needs\, caring KVC professionals step in for the very purpose of safety. Our track record on child safety is why state child welfare agencies across the U.S. trust us to care for tens of thousands of children and families each year. \nResources: \n\nChild Abuse Prevention: What Can I Do?\nFact or Fiction – What is True About Child Abuse?\nRecognizing the Signs of Child Abuse and Neglect
