SUMMARY:KVC Health Systems' 2023 Annual Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for KVC’s 2023 Annual Celebration! Every October\, KVC Health Systems hosts this event to share the positive difference your generous support has made in people’s lives. That includes supporters\, partner organizations\, kinship families\, resource families\, clients\, and team members. \n\nJoin Us to Honor Our 2023 KVC Hero Award Winner\nMalachi “Chi” Coleman and family are the recipients of this year’s KVC Hero Award. When experiencing foster care as a child\, KVC Nebraska supported Malachi Coleman and his sister when they needed a foster family and were eventually adopted by Craig and Miranda Coleman. As an exceptionally talented athlete\, Malachi is now using his voice to help other kids in foster care see their worth and potential. After being regarded as the No. 1 college football recruit in Nebraska and one of the top prospects in the country\, Malachi began playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers this fall\, he is raising money and giving back. Through his fundraising and advocacy\, Malachi hopes to make foster care better for the next generation of kids. SUMMARY:Mental Wellness Campus Groundbreaking Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Partnering to Provide Life-Saving Treatment\nIn recent years\, mental health needs for both children and adults have been increasing at an alarming rate. For example\, youth suicide attempts in Kansas have led to a 68% increase in emergency department visits. \nA $12.7 million Kansas SPARK grant has ignited a $53 million philanthropic campaign to build a new 72-bed mental health hospital in Olathe\, KS serving children and adults. You are invited to join KVC Health Systems and Kansas Governor Laura Kelly as we break ground on a new world-class inpatient mental health hospital. We’ll also announce our joint venture partner — a leading Kansas City organization — and hear from the public and private supporters making this vision a reality. \nThe planned $53 million campaign will open a new non-profit 72-bed mental health hospital adjacent to KVC’s headquarters. This healing environment includes three separate 24-bed units — 48 pediatric beds and 24 adult beds — as well as private courtyards\, walking paths\, and dining and activity space\, all centered on staff and patient safety\, wellness\, and connection with nature. We are proud to expand the life-saving care needed in our community. Learn more about the project here. \nFeatured Speakers \n \nOther Distinguished Guests Include\n \nMany other special guests\, elected officials\, business and community leaders\, and philanthropic supporters will join us. All champions for children’s mental health\, adult mental health\, and family wellness are welcome to attend. \nRSVP\nRegistrations for this event have closed as we’ve reached capacity. \nIf you have questions\, please contact Amanda Volmer at avolmer@kvc.org or (913) 322-4944. \n
