Supporting a family working toward safe reunification?
Explore Foster Care
After a court rules that a child or teen cannot safely remain at home, foster care provides temporary care while their family receives support and works toward safe reunification whenever possible.
KVC supports children and teens in foster care, as well as their parents and families, throughout this process. Our teams work with families, foster parents, relatives, non-related kinship caregivers, case teams and community partners to support safety, healing, family connection and reunification whenever safely possible.
Foster care may be needed when:- A child or teen cannot safely remain at home due to abuse or neglect
- A family is working through serious challenges
- Parents or caregivers need time and support to build a safe home environment
- A child or teen needs a safe place to live after the death or incarceration of a parent or caregiver

- Supporting parents and families as they work toward safe reunification
- Helping children and teens stay connected to family when appropriate
