Over 78,000 Lives Changed: KVC Health Systems’ Incredible 2024 Impact
At KVC Health Systems, our goal is simple: to help people when they need it most. Whether it’s offering support to struggling families, finding safe homes for children, or helping youth heal from mental health challenges, we are KVC and we’re here to make a positive impact.
Every October we release our annual Impact Report, recognize our values-driven partners, and honor our Hero Award recipients. It’s both inspiring and humbling to reflect on the incredible impact made possible by our dedicated KVC family—whether you’re a family, foster or adoptive parent, a donor, a community partner, or a member of our team. Because of you, KVC positively impacted the lives of over 78,000 children, adults, and families last year.
During fiscal year 2024, KVC:
- Strengthened over 15,000 families, helping parents create safe, loving homes.
- Matched 337 children with forever families through adoption, bringing the total to 6,844 children placed with loving families throughout our history.
- Served 29,606 children & adults through in-home services such as family therapy, behavioral healthcare and skill-building.
- Helped over 4,746 youth through admissions to our children’s mental health hospitals and residential treatment programs

Our 2024 KVC Hero Award Recipients
The KVC Hero Award is presented each year to an individual, couple or organization who has made a tremendous difference in KVC Health Systems’ evolution and in the lives of children and families.
Mike Comer, JE Dunn Construction
As Vice President of JE Dunn Construction, Mike Comer leads the team that has designed and built KVC’s world-class mental health hospitals. This includes Camber Children’s Mental Health Wichita (opened 2019), Camber Children’s Mental Health Hays (opened 2023), and the new Children’s Mercy + Camber Mental Health wellness campus opening this year. Elizabeth (Liz) Croney & Dr. James (Jim) Clark, Founders of KVC Kentucky
In 1999, Liz Croney, a licensed clinical social worker, and Dr. James (Jim) Clark, Associate Professor in the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky, founded a private practice called Croney and Clark, Inc. The organization was well-respected in the Lexington, KY area for providing behavioral healthcare with a focus on serving families in their own homes. In 2009, Croney and Clark became KVC Kentucky. It has now grown to more than 300 professionals serving over 20,000 children and families each year.
