#NeverStopCaring Means a Better Future for Youth in Foster Care

Nationally, nearly 30,000 young adults age out of foster care each year. These youth are victims of abuse or neglect who could not be safely reintegrated with their birth families and were not adopted. With no family or home to turn to, these youth are at high risk of becoming homeless, unemployed, incarcerated, victimized, unexpectedly pregnant, and on welfare.

Screen Shot 2014-11-05 at 4.47.46 PMKVC Health Systems has launched the national #NeverStopCaring initiative to bring awareness to this national crisis, and propose one very promising solution: the creation of a specialized career college that will give these youth the hands-on vocational training and other support they need to transition to adulthood. A closing naval base in West Virginia is the ideal facility for this national model of how to help youth aging out of foster care.
